Wendy is Haggis`s mom. They live in Denver Colorado.Haggis is a beautiful black brindle male.He is pictured with his mom on page 2 of the website as a grown dog. He is pictured on this page as a puppy of 13 weeks of age.

 Hi lainie!

So good to hear from you too. Attached are photos, but
I'm afraid this may bounce as they are a bit large.
You should be ok with AOL, but let me know if you have
any trouble opening. He looks a bit scrappy in a few,
as he's harder to photograph than you would guess.
Hardly ever sits still during the day, and hardly ever
after he's been groomed. Next time I'll take a photo
just after he's come back from the groomer, as opposed
hiking with his family or tearing around after a ball.
Now, for a few thoughts about this puppy.

I have to tell you how impressed I am with Haggis. He
has the most fantastic temperament of any Scotty I
have ever known, and I was raised with them. He is
both independent and my second greatest companion
(behind my husband), a combination I have found to be
rare in this tough and lovely breed. He follows me
from room to room like I've never known a scotty to
do, but is never demanding or needy. He is an absolute
gem. Not only is he charming, wonderfully sweet and
well mannered, but everywhere I go he garners
attention and compliments. I've seen the toughest of
mountain men melt and stoop to give him a scratch when
they see him, and I am barraged with unsolicited
compliments - from my vet, the staff, breeders who
have seen him on the street, the groomer, long term
scotty owners, and many a dog lover. He's become the
belle of the ball here in Denver.  He's absolutely
stolen my heart, and I have already given your card
out to strangers and family alike. I don't know what's
in the water out there in Hemet, but you certainly
know how to turn out a well bred, beautiful, and
fantastic little terrier. He's on a one puppy
ambassadorial mission to convert Denverites to scotty
lovers.

Seriously. Lainie, my biggest fear is that he will get
stolen. He's so precious, and so friendly, he draws so
much attention here that I never leave him
unsupervised in public for a second. He's got puppy
low-jack now, as I was terrified if he was stolen I
could never find him again. Everyone adores him. My
in-laws say he's the most well-behaved dog they have
ever been around, call him the grandson, and they
rescheduled the family vacation in order to bring him
along and get into a hotel that allowed pets. This is
despite my father-in-law's terrible allergy to dogs,
and he still will pick haggis up and cuddle him every
time he sees him. He hated scotties before he met
Haggis, as his daughter was attacked by one when she
was a little girl.

So, that's the saga of Haggis McRea Murphy. He's doing
quite well. He had a slightly open knee joint / loose
patella that gave him a tiny bit of a skip in his walk
at first (the vet said it's pretty common for scotty
puppies), but I never bothered you with it because we
thought it would get better in time and chose to
observe it closely for a while.  It did, she just
checked it last week again although it's almost
imperceptible now. She says he's in perfect health,
fantastic blood work, low heart rate, and in great
shape.

I did want to ask you about grass allergies-- I
haven't noticed any reaction, but I want to be sure I
protect him from it-- Never mind. i'll just call you
tonight to ask. We have a yard, but we don't leave him
out in it often. We are putting in a gravel side yard
for him to potty in, but he's a house dog. He had one
hotspot for a couple of weeks, but it's gone now- he
appears to be in perfect health. Still on the Eukanuba
L&R and getting his vitamins every single day. The
only day he missed was the day he had to fast for his
surgery.

Oh, and just to make it easier, our address is below!

Thanks Lainie,

Wendy

Buyer Beware!!!

Here is some quick info about Pet store scotties. the AKC will NOT allow a breeder to sell their puppies from a pet store. If a puppy is sold from a pet store it is Not AKC> It in fact will be either  APRI ( American Pet Registry ) or CKC ( continental Kennel Club). Those registrys to not have the restrictions on the pet stores and breeders. Thus puppy mills find it easy to sell their puppies to needy pet stores who need puppies. When you buy a pet store puppy it is a FACT that you are supporting a puppy mill.! My question is WHY pay the same price for a puppy mill puppy VS going to a reputable breeder and getting a guarantee of health ,meeting who is selling the dog,AKC papers, ect...???

These dogs are my breeding dogs Maggie and Buffy , playing in my outside garden area. They are watching the chickens run around. Buffy will have our next litter Jan 2007.Maggies next litter will be Nov 2006. Maggie has puppies on the ground NOW!

I also do scottie rescue. I am not involved with a orginization. I do rescue because I can not stand to see the scotties in puppy mills or pounds. If I can buy a pet store puppy and rescue it i will. If a puppy mill will let me buy their breed stock . I will. I will then neuter/spay those dogs. Train them and find them homes. ALL OF MY RESCUES HAVE COME FROM PET STORE BRED STOCK!!!Even the breeder puppy mill stock!  They are all ill tempered and SICK with some kind of disease. They are hard to deal with and even harder to place. When people buy from a pet store and get poor quality--- where do you think it goes?? TO RESCUE! We have way to many scotties in need of rescue and rescuers only want black. People there are over 500 names on the list for  perfect black female rescues with scottie rescue. GO FOR A SCOTTIE NOT A COLOR!!!  Color does not make the breed.!

About Lainie and why she decided to breed scotties.

My main concern is to educate the public about this bred and the dishonest breeders.!!! This breed runs rampent in the Puppy mills since the president has has this breed in the white house. I have 13 puppies every year.THATS ALL. I do not have enough puppies to help all the public. However I am always here to anwser any questions you have about this breed.  I will also be happy to help you find a honest breeder. The MAIN PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE IS TO EDUCATE YOU ,THE BUYER!! PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS IS NOT TO SLANDER ANOTHER BREEDER OR KENNEL BUT HELP THE SCOTTIE PUBLIC GET A WELL BRED HEALTHY SCOTTIE!! No other breeder will give a buyer this info let alone print it on their website. And believe me they are not happy about my website and I have heard it.  I am not in the practice of pleasing them but I am in the practice of pleasing the public. I am  a 3rd generation Dog breeder. My grandmother breeds mini dachsunds. She Also raises mini horses and shows her animals. My parents also breed Dachsunds. However they breed the standard. They also show their dogs and have ALL of them championed. They like any other reputable breeders bred ONLY one breed and have ONLY 5

I recieved this email from a potential customer. It has a email she recieved from a PET BREEDER. I will point out for you in this email all of the wrong things this lady has stated to this customer. BUYER BEWARE> PLEASE PAY ATTENTION> If you do not screen your breeder well you can end up with a diseases puppy. This email came from a breeder that has NO CLUE on how to breed a scottieEmail states ::   I am not sure if this last breeding took or not.  She may have some
pups about the second week of Oct., but I am not sure she is pregnant
at this time.  Dogs sometimes go through a false pregnancy.  I did try
to breed her, so she may have some pups.  I have not yet tested my
bitch for genetic diseases, but she shows no signs of them and I have
not heard of any in any of her offspring. Genetic illnesses'
prevalences vary with the disease.  Some diseases are prevalent in
particular lines.   I do not breed show pups.  I do, however try to
improve the breed with each breeding.  I am interested in why you chose
a scottish terrier, what type of home the pup will have, and whether
your temperment and a terrier temperment will meld.  My last litter
sold for for the females, and for the males.  Although both
the dam and the sire had wheaten genetics, I didn't get any wheaten
pups.  They were all brindle. I hope to get some wheatens  in
subsequent breedings.  Please keep in touch, and I will be glad to give
you any information that I can.                                                                      Now here is what to look for. This lady states she has not tested her bitch. she goes on to say that the bitch shows no signs of genetic illness. PEOPLE , please be advised that these dogs can be carriers to very BAD diseases. If not tested, it is all to possible that they are producing lines that carry the CMO< Scottie Cramp , VWD, thyroid problems, liver shunts, bladder problems, skin ailments and the list goeson and on.Scotties have a ton of genetic diseases.!THIS IS A FACT!! carriers do not show symptoms! They do however spread the disease .VWD is a bleeding disease. If the male is tested as clear and the female is a carrier, one half of the litter will have the disease. The other half will be carriers. If you buy a breeding dog from this lady---You risk producing puppies with very serious health problems. If you buy a puppy- you risk it bleeding to death on spay, heat cycle or whelp. If she has CMO the puppies will die before one year of age! She also goes on to state that the diseases run prevalent in certain lines. DUH! those lines are the pet lines.! The show lines have been tested FOR GENERATIONS, they are the best quality. Pet lines have NO TESTING for generations. It makes no sence to me that one would pay , for a dog that is not tested and then encounter terrible health problems, thus spending TONS of money on vet bills, VS going to a reputable breer that screens properly and has the best stock and is genetically clear.! here is another thing to look for, she does not breed the show lines. But says I constantly try to improve?? Does she go to an outside male everytime, thus all of her litters came from different lineage? How would one know if each male was tested? How does she know which pet lines are bad if she does not rescue? Also how is she screening each  male if using outside males? Did she go on the word of the males owners or did she screen the dog herself? This means when you go to this home to buy a scottie-- What are you getting?Do you get to see both parents?? just because a dog is AKC registered or the parents are called this breed. Can you really be sure this is what they are? I also do rescue, doing rescue I have run across the worst looking AKC scotties you can ever imagine. They were bred by pet breeders that did not know breed standard. thus the puppies end up looking like westies, carns and you name it. I have even seen scotties (AKC registered) that look like DACHSUNDS! Please be careful when lookingfor this breed. If you want a pet , that does not cost much, PLEASE GO TO RESCUE or to the local shelters.! You can find scotties in shelters! Please save a life rather that have someone who does not know what they are doing breed another puppy! I also know most people do not care about the info I have put on this website. However I can not sit back and watch these ""reputable breeders"" swindle the public anymore! If you would like my help in finding a breeder , let me know. I can point you in the correct direction. I know several very great breeders who screen their dogs. They also health guarantee . Keep in contact with their past puppies and so on. I will be happy to help you find a great healthy scottie. I also have extensive medical records and medical references pages  if you would like me to send them to you, before deciding on a breeder. Remember this fact::: GOOD BREEDERS BREED THE BEST QUALITY THEY CAN FIND, THEY CONSTANTLY TRY TO IMPROVE ON QUALITY AND HEALTH THROUGH SCREENING AND PROPER BREEDING! THEY DO NOT BREED BECAUSE THEY THINK IT CUTE FOR THEIR DOGS TO BE MOMMIES!  RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS ALSO DO NOT BREED LINES THAT THEY HAVE BEEN INFORMED ARE BAD LINES>I HAVE POSTED SOME LINES ON THIS SITE> I HAVE CALLED BREEDERS WHO BREED THESE LINES HERE IN CA. AND HAVE TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE LINES. STILL THEY CONTINUE TO BREED THESE LINES AND HAVE THE AUDASITY TO CALL THEM TOP OF THE LINE IN QUALITY. I WOULD NOT HAVE CALLED THESE BREEDERS OR POSTED THESE LINES ON THE WEBSITE IF THEY WERE NOT HEAVILY DISEASED!! IF BUYING IN CALIFORNIA__ SCREEN FOR THESE LINES OR SOME OF YOU WILL BE SORRY IN THE LONG RUN! SOMEONE WILL END UP WITH A VERY SICK DOG OR ONE THAT DIES AT A EARLY AGE!  PLEASE SCREEN YOUR BREEDER THUROUGHLY AS WELL AS THEIR PEDIGREES!! I KNOW THESE LINES TO BE DISEASED BECAUSE I ACTUALLY OWNED TWO OF THE SCOTTIES THAT STARTED THESE LINES ---JOSHUA`S KING GEORGIE MCGREGOR AND ALABAMA SWEETIE. I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT SCOTTIES WHEN I STUDDED HIM OUT AND HAD HER HAVE PUPPIES. SHAME ON ME. I AM TRYING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE NIGHTMARES THESE LINES HAVE CAUSED.NOT START PROBLEMS FOR OTHER BREEDERS- I JUST WISH THEY WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND STOP WITH THESE LINES!  ALLIE IS NOW DESEASED ( DIED AT 2) ,GEORGIE IS NOT DOING WELL ( AGE 6).
